SEM2 WEEK 4

TITLE:
Fabricate the actual Printed Circuit Board

OBJECTIVE:

Convert the circuit into to PCB layout.

CONTENT/PROCEDURE :

Here is the PCB layout that I have draw using Livewire software, before fabricate the circuit into actual printed circuit board

CONCLUSION:
I had successfully fabricate the PCB of my 1phase BLDC circuit driver.

SEM2 WEEK 3

TITLE :

Design circuit diagram using Livewire software
OBJECTIVE :
To investigate the voltage output from the circuit before convert to PCB layout

CONTENT/PROCEDURE :

I had a problem to simulate the driver circuit  because one of the component which is IR 2110 is not in the library. I went to see Mr. Suhairi to tell him about this problem. We discuss and agree to not doing the simulation and told me to proceed with the actual circuit on the breadboard to test it before doing it on the pcb.

This figure show the 1 phase BLDC circuit driver using Livewire

CONCLUSION:

The objective of this week is to understand and investigate the output circuit using  software and replace the components that not available for before convert into PCB layout.

SEMESTER 2 WEEK 2

Title:Research information about the project.
Objective
:To ensure student understand about the project.

Discussion/Analysis:
This project will design the drive system for single phase brushless dc motor. The BLDC is droved to move in rotational.

Why use brushless DC motors ?

Brushless DC motors are synchronous motors suitable for use as a simple means of controlling permanent drives (e.g. ABS pumps, EHPS pumps, fuel pumps or cooling fans). This type  brushless DC motor will increasingly replace brushed DC motors. Brushed DC motors require maintenance, e.g. to service coal brushes and commutator. Another major problem with a brushed DC machine is the possibility of brush burnout in the event of an overload or stall condition.

The purpose of the development of the driving system is to control the speed of the motor. The main idea for controlling the speed of the motor is by controlling the switching of the power MOSFET.The power MOSFET will be control by MOSFET driver, while the MOSFET driver will be control by Logic-Gates which , and then the signal will be the input pulse to activate the MOSFET driver. To control the speed of the motor, the input voltage will be varied by user to desire speed.

SEMESTER 2 WEEK 1

Title:Searching for Component
Objective
: to find the component are available on the market before assemble

Discussion/Analysis:

I went to Jalan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur to search for components for my FYP. Overall the components are easy to get but some of the component are not available in Malaysia and need to order from oversea through internet. After discussion with supervisor, he suggest to replace that component (IRFB4332) to IRFB640.
