WEEK 6

Title: Searching for component

Objective: To give student more understanding about the component involved

Discussion/Analysis:

I went to Jalan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur to start search for components for my FYP. I didn't buy it. I just want to know that the components were sold or not. If not, I need to order it from outside or replace it with the other component that have the similar characteristic with the component that I desire. From this also, I can estimated the cost that needed for this project and make me well prepared in term of financial. I went to see Mr. Suhairi and bring my estimated budget. We discuss further about the circuit that been modified by me. We try to add another feature to this circuit driver.

WEEK 5

Title: Search for existing circuit driver and 1.phase BLDC Motor.

Objective: To get more understanding about how the circuit driver work and 1-phase BLDC Motor

Discussion/Analysis: 

 
This week, I went to my supervisor and discuss more detail about my project. I already search about the circuit driver for the brushless dc motor that had been designed before and show it to Mr. Suhairi. The 1-phase brushless DC motor will increasingly replace brushed DC motor. Brushed DC motor requires maintenance, for example to service coal brushes and commutator. Another major problem with a brushed DC motor is the possibility of brush burnout in the event of an overload or stall condition.

As the brushless DC motor still improving by manufacturer for better quality, the driver circuit also needs to improve by researcher from time to time to ensure that the motor will work properly with the driver and produced desire power needed by the user.

WEEK 4

Title: Discussion with advisor about the project


Objective: To gain more understanding about the project


Analysis/Discussion:
I went to see my supervisor for the 3rd meeting. He said I need to start doing the proposal for my project and submit to him by next week. He said we must come out with the new ideas from other that already have in the market. We must do the different and doing the research circuit driver in many sources. I search my project data from the internet and also use the lecture note for electrical machine and drives subject which i take last semester.

semester. I also included my estimated budget for my project.

The project proposal should have the following format:

Conclusion:
 From this meeting, I get to know better about what I will do and gain more information from my advisor about what I should done. I will continue  doing my proposal.

WEEK 3

TITLE :

Research information about the project.

OBJECTIVE :

To ensure student understand about the project.

To analyze every part of system use in the project

CONTENT/PROCEDURE

This project will design the drive system for single phase brushless dc motor. The BLDC is droved to move in rotational. The BLDC which is drive is single phase brushless motor which requires 30-100v to operate. The drive system will use a H-bridge circuit to convert DC power supply to the AC power supply to the motor. Power MOSFET is used for switching purpose and the MOSFET driver IR2110 is used to switch on  and off the get logic the MOSFET. the power MOSFET .

The advantages of  brushless DC motor is it typically smaller and lighter than the brush DC motor, making it ideal for applications where weight and space are important factors. The brushless DC motor is cleaner, more powerful, and requires lower maintenance than does the brush DC motor. It has higher speed ranges, higher dynamic responses, and ultimately outlasts the brush DC motor in total operating hours.
